Care:

Bright indirect light:
The Monstera obliqua 'Monkey' needs plenty of soft, indirect light to keep its thin, perforated, and delicate leaves in perfect condition. It's an extremely sensitive variety, so avoid direct sunlight altogether, as it could burn its delicate leaves.

Regular and highly controlled watering:
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil are dry. It typically needs watering every 4–6 days during warmer months, reducing the frequency in winter. This plant prefers slightly moist soil, but never waterlogged soil. Its roots are fine and delicate, so overwatering can quickly damage it.

High humidity:
As a true tropical plant, it requires 70–90% humidity. Using a humidifier, placing it on a saucer with damp pebbles, or keeping it in a display case/terrarium are ideal for promoting its growth. With high humidity, its leaves grow larger, thinner, and with more defined holes.

It prefers a very airy, rich, and well-draining substrate. A mix for aroids with pine bark, coconut fiber, perlite, and sphagnum moss is ideal. Its growth is delicate and somewhat slow, but under good conditions, it can climb using a moss support or trellis, developing increasingly perforated and spectacular leaves.
