Fuchsia

- Fuchsias are evergreen shrubs known for their beautiful hanging flowers, which come in a variety of vibrant colors and combinations and can reach heights of up to 1-2 meters, depending on the species and variety.
- They have thin, woody stems, with opposite, oval or lanceolate leaves, usually dark green and with toothed edges.
- The flowers of fuchsias are their most distinctive and attractive feature. They are bell- or teardrop-shaped and hang gracefully from long, slender stems. The flowers can be single or double and are available in a wide range of colors, including pink, red, purple, white, and bicolor.
- Some fuchsia species also produce small, edible fruits that are similar to berries, although they are not as ornamental as the flowers.
Basic care:
- Light: Fuchsias prefer a location with bright but indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day, as the leaves can burn.
- Soil: Use well-drained, fertile soil to plant your fuchsias. They love organic matter such as compost and mulch.
- Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid waterlogging. Fuchsias do not tolerate drought, so be sure to water them regularly, especially during hot, dry periods.
- Temperature: Fuchsias are cool-weather plants and prefer moderate temperatures. Protect the plants from excessive heat in summer and frost in winter.
- Pruning: Regular pruning of fuchsias is recommended to promote compact growth and encourage abundant flowering. Remove faded flowers and any dead or diseased stems to keep the plant healthy and attractive.
